Permanent UFO museum proposed for Pine Bush

The 10th Anniversary Pine Bush UFO Festival has been rescheduled and will be held Labor Day weekend, Friday, September 4 – Saturday, September 5. Events include speakers, the highly anticipated and well attended all day fair and festival on Main Street as well as the paranormal museum installation.

Domanie Ragni, Director of Community Services and Small Business Tourism for the Town of Crawford made a presentation at the May Town Board Meeting regarding the possibility and consideration of a permanent museum. Ragni highlighted the success of past museum exhibits and added, “The momentum has grown recently - especially since we’ve had so many networks visiting Town filming segments on the museum. In 2019 we were filmed by The Travel Channel, The Discovery Channel, Disney Plus Streaming Service, and were featured in a full segment on the Fox News Channel. We have also been published by major publications including a full page in the NY Post. With all of the exposure as you can imagine, we receive regular calls to ask about the status (of a permanent museum).”

Amanda Dana, Orange County Director of Tourism also attended the presentation and stated the project would not only be an economically sound investment, but would build the brand of the community in the same way people recognize Hershey, PA for chocolate or Cooperstown, NY for baseball.
Town of Crawford Supervisor Charles Carnes questioned the ability of the Board to actively pursue this project in light of the active pandemic and financial concerns, however, responded the matter will be revisited.

Dana also emphasized the museum would add and align with the great attractions people are or will be when able, attending in nearby areas such as wineries and cider orchards. “People want another experience,” she said.

Additional input and support were expressed by Orange County Legislator Rob Sassi, who said, “I am excited for this. It’s an opportunity to shine and make this a top-notch event and make downtown (Pine Bush) a go-to place.”
