Tis the Season to be merry and the time to announce the winners of the Walden Home Decorating Contest. Winner of the most Creative Home is Fernando Vasquez; winners of the most Original Home are Dan and Teresa Boggess; winners of the Religious Home display are Jim and Peg Hall and winner of the Whimsical Home display is the Dan Livingston Family.
A $100 gift certificate to Hannafords was awarded to the winners. Winners of the Business decorating contest are First Place - Sohns Appliance Center, Inc., 23-27 Main Street; Second Place - LeVonne Inspiration Florist, 42 South Montgomery Street; Third Place - Popp’s Trophies, 158 West Main Street. Congratulations.
The Walden Community Council thanks all Village of Walden residents and businesses who participated in decorating their homes and businesses so beautifully for our contest. Thank you also to the judges who volunteered their time to help with the contest. Our Village looks festive and beautiful. Hope you have an opportunity to see it all.
Also, happy to report that Assemblyman Brian Maher announced that his office had secured a $75,000 grant that will benefit the Walden V.F.W. Post 2946 for the purpose of addressing infrastructure needs that is threatening to close this veterans establishment over the past year.
Commander Dave Penney cites that the past several years VFWs and American Legions have gone through tough financial times. Thank you Assemblyman Maher for assisting the VFW in this endeavor - truly giving our veterans a reason to be Merry.
Family, friends and members of the Walden Police Department look forward to sending Happy Birthday greetings to Sgt. Bobby Montanaro on December 28. We wish him all life’s best!

Leadership day will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 , 6:30 p.m., 3rd floor Bradley Assembly Room, Municipal Building. You are invited to attend and pay tribute to the following honorees: Greyson Sager will receive the Ronald I. Jacobowitz Youth Leadership Award; Mark and Courtney Grogen will receive the Midge Norman Volunteer of the Year Award; Blue Fox Books will receive the Community Business of the Year Award; the Walden Historical Society will receive the Sam Phelps Service Award.
