National Night Out brings out large crowds

National Night Out was yet again another success as local towns and municipalities gathered for food, drinks, fun and more. Three local towns, Crawford, Montgomery and Shawagunk threw their own events, and each one was jam-packed with residents.

The Town of Montgomery kicked their night off at 5 p.m. at Benedict Farm Park. Local fire departments, state and local police, local ambulance corps, organizations and more gathered to engage with residents.

Children got to explore the fire trucks, throw baseballs with the Montgomery Little League and eat hamburgers and hot dogs. They also had music, touch-a-truck, a helicopter landing and more.

Crawford filled up their town park with many local organizations, a Stewart’s ice cream stand, free giveaways including four tickets to LegoLand, cops versus kids laser tag, touch-a-truck and more.

Crawford Police Chief Dominick Blasko shared some words about why this event is so important to him and the community.

“This community keeps going and coming together, and that’s why we’re so strong because we are involved with each other. We make sure that we are the village that raises the children,” said Blasko.

In Shawangunk, Garrison Park was full of bouncy houses, a dunk tank, free wing-eating contest, local committees and organizations and a bike raffle for kids. County Legislator Ken Ronk was one of the people being dunked.
