Montgomery refusal of electrical vehicle charging station

The 6/22 WVT announced that three EV charging stations had been installed at  locations in Orange County. Totally funded through The Climate Smart Communities Title 15 of the EPA Fund. County Executive Neuhaus emphasized how “...it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants and set an example for cleaner and greener transportation options.” Certainly, some benefits we can appreciate after the days of haze from Canadian fires recently.

What isn’t mentioned is the decision of the Town of Montgomery Board to pass up this free installation as “unnecessary”.  Perhaps, the Supervisor and Board forgot that the Town voted to become a “Climate Smart Community” which included a pledge to set goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Among the ten goals one was to support a green innovation economy that incorporated climate protection and sustainability.

Maybe we need our youth to rise up as is happening in Montana currently and in many other places to insist that our local leaders stop turning a deaf ear to what needs to be done to save our planet from total ruin. We need to speak out and insist that our representatives act in our interests and that of our world.
