Mabel “Bel” B. Kidd of Walden, a longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 26, 2021, at home.  She was 89. 

The daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Walker Benfer, she was born December 26, 1931 in Bronx, NY.

Bel was a retired curriculum coordinator, as well as a former teacher of remedial reading for the Valley Central School District. She also was an elementary, middle & high school English teacher. 

She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Walden, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Walden, Walden Star Chapter OES, NYSTA and the Retired Teachers Association of Middletown.

She was the widow of Robert W. Kidd.

Survivors include her son Brian Kidd of Walden; grandsons Zachary Kidd of South Carolina and Alexander Kidd of North Carolina; Two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Gregory Kidd and brother Charles Benfer.

Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 3-5 p.m., at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m.
