Library presents 'Hidden Treasures of the Hudson Valley'

The Gardiner Library hosts Hidden Treasures of the Hudson Valley (Local History) on Sunday, April 16 from 3-4 p.m. While major tourist sites in the Hudson Valley attract thousands of visitors every year, some lesser known but historically rich sites often go unnoticed. Learn about still existing structures in the region including the only domed octagon house in the world, a tavern that once served as a military prison, an 18th century trading post for Native Americans and early settlers, and the home and studio of Hudson Valley School of Art painter Jasper Cropsey.

These Hidden Treasures of the Hudson Valley are featured in a three-volume book set that features 165 sites, all of which welcome visitors, are very affordable and easily accessible for day and/or weekend trips.

Anthony Musso is the author of nine books, which primarily focus on the history of New York’s Hudson Valley region, including his popular three-volume “Hidden Treasures of the Hudson Valley” series.  Musso completed a 38-year career as a writer/editor, media spokesperson, and event coordinator for the U.S. Government while simultaneously working as a freelance journalist and weekly columnist for Gannett Newspapers for 25 years. The Library is located at 133 Farmer’s Turnpike in Gardiner.
