Trivia Tidbit: February 24 will be the Snow Moon. The Snow Moon is the Full Moon in February, named after the snow on the ground in the Northern Hemisphere. Some North American tribes named it the Hunger Moon due to the scarce food sources and hard hunting conditions during mid-winter, while others named it the Storm Moon. Some sources also call it Chaste Moon, although most attribute this name to the March Full Moon.

Thank you to timeanddate.com/astronomy/ for the meaning. I will be checking in with them each month for an update.

Commander Dan Dambrozio of the Pine Bush American Legion Post 1308 wants you to know that they have added a meeting night to their schedule. This is to accommodate those members who work during the day or those who cannot make the daytime meetings. Take your pick: the 1st Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. or the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. – or better yet – come to both of them! You will meet folks at the night meeting that you won’t see at the day meeting and visa-versa.

Meetings are held at the hall at 4 Martin Street, Pine Bush [across the street near Larry’s Chinese Restaurant on North Street]. Refreshments are usually serviced.

Commander Dan would also like to thank all of those folks who turned out for the open house fundraiser hosted by the Longstreet Tavern and NYS Assemblyman Brian Maher on Monday January 15. Maher was happy to announce that needed funds requested by the American Legion have been obtained and projects planned for 2024 and beyond can now be undertaken.

The American Legion Post 1308 Pine Bush has a new Facebook page and all are invited to like and follow the group.
