Kitten café comes to Walden

Posted

The Humane Society of Walden was at Blue Fox Books on Saturday, October 21, for a Kitten Café.

This event was arranged to allow people to meet adorable kittens and learn more about the adoption procedure. There was plenty of cider and coffee, as well as donuts and raffle entries, and children dressed up as their favorite felines.

Since the year 1974, the Humane Society of Walden’s employees and community members have given outstanding care for numerous beloved pets while they await their next homes.

The Humane Society of Walden is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them. Every year, they are able to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals thanks to the generosity of donors.

Brittani O’Hearn, owner of Blue Fox Books in Walden, noted that this is their second event with the Humane Society of Walden this year.

“Wonderful event, for a great cause”, Brittani said. She added that “the donations for the refreshments will go towards the Humane Society, and 10 percent of their sales will also go towards the Human Society.”

The first event occurred in early September, according to the organizers.

“The turnout was super amazing, with lots of local support” mentioned Lisa Dennis, a Humane Society of Walden member. The kittens from the first event at Blue Fox Books were all adopted, and six kittens attended the second event on Saturday. One hundred sixty kittens were adopted last year as a result of their foster program and adoption events. The Humane Society expects to adopt two hundred kittens this year.

Six adorable kittens are ready to be adopted and become part of a lovely household. All kittens at the event have been fully vetted and are ready for adoption. “We don’t do same-day adoption, but kittens are $150 donations,” said Lisa.

The Humane Society of Walden believes that all animals deserve proper care, respect and shelter, as well as a natural right to humane treatment. Before officially adopting a kitten, a background check is conducted. This is their second event at Blue Fox Book; they plan to do similar events every couple of months because so many kittens need to be adopted.

There have been two adoptions since the event, Billy and Winnifred are enjoying their new homes.
