Apart from skin cancers, breast cancer stands as the most common cancer type affecting women. In 2023 alone, approximately 290,560 individuals will receive the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. This staggering statistic underscores the urgency of raising awareness, fostering support, and driving critical research to combat this formidable adversary. As we commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it is crucial to highlight initiatives that aim to make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer, such as the American Cancer Society’s 28th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Hudson Valley event.

On Sunday, October 15, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the community will come together at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, located at 498 Red Apple Court, Central Valley, for a meaningful event that not only raises awareness but also offers support and hope. The event’s agenda includes survivor and caregiver recognition, a noncompetitive 2.1-mile walk around the scenic Woodbury Common Premium Outlets and family-friendly activities designed to engage participants of all ages.

The Making Strides movement is a call to action for everyone who wishes to contribute to the fight against breast cancer. It is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those battling this disease and make a tangible impact. By participating in this event, you can help the American Cancer Society invest in groundbreaking research, provide free transportation to chemotherapy appointments, offer lodging near hospitals, and offer round-the-clock answers and support for those facing breast cancer.

Registration for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Hudson Valley event is both simple and accessible. You can sign up online at signup.cancer.org, ensuring a hassle-free check-in on the day of the walk. Alternatively, if you prefer to register by phone, you can call 800.227.2345, option 2. Whether you’re an individual looking to make a difference or part of a group that wants to rally together for a common cause, your involvement in this event will be a vital step in the ongoing battle against breast cancer.
