Jamaican restaurant proposed for Colden Park entrance

The project known as 273 Route 17K made an initial appearance before the Town of Newburgh Planning Board for a change of use proposal that would see the former dry cleaners facility converted into a new sit down Jamaican restaurant with new parking spots and handicap parking. The current site is located on a corner that is adjacent to the road into Colden Park.

Prepared comments from MHE Engineering have listed this property to be within the town’s business zoning district and due to Route 17K will require several reviews and variances. The site plans would need to be sent to the New York State Department of Transportation for review and new sewer and water locations should be added to the plans as there will need to be a grease trap installed. Plans will need to be circulated to the Orange County Department of Planning and adjoiner’s notices will be required to be sent out. Accessible parking and parking space dimensions will also be required to be included on the plans.

The board moved to hear back from the Zoning Board of Appeals on their review of the variances that were brought forward during the meeting.
