At approximately 12:03 a.m. on September 21, the New Windsor Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and people screaming at Knox Village Apartments, 835 Blooming Grave Turnpike, in the area of apartment 119.

Walden woman identified as shooting victim

 At approximately 12:03 a.m. on September 21, the New Windsor Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and people screaming at Knox Village Apartments, 835 Blooming Grave Turnpike, in the area of apartment 119.

 Upon arrival, officers found a 21 year old female and a 20 year old male with a gunshot wounds. The female victim was pronounced dead on the scene.  The male victim was transported to St Luke’s Cornwall Newburgh campus for non-life threatening injuries.  The perpetrator(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival.

 “This tragic shooting has taken a young life from us far too soon and it not only affects the family of the victim but it impacts our community as a whole.,” said New Windsor Police Chief Robert Doss. “We are committed to catching those responsible for this heinous crime and bringing them to justice.”

The 21-year old female shooting victim is identified as  Chelsea Debidin of Walden
