Helen M. Casamento received lots of kindness and care , but passed peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2022  at Highland Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Middletown. She was 109..

Born in Guttenburg, NJ on May 12th 1912, she was the daughter of the late  Joseph Casamento and Maria Diangelo Casamento. A Seamstress by trade, Helen started as a dress designer in Manhattan, and after moving to Burlingham, she worked at various clothing factories in Pine Bush. She truly dedicated her life to the Catholic Church, and was an organist for over 80 years including service at the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg and Infant Savior in Pine Bush. She treasured the certificates and souvenirs from the officials and the letter from Cardinal Dolan.

Recently, her daily topic of conversation was about her 108th birthday, and  the marvelous parade of well wishers. She was truly amazed at all the neighbors and friends that drove up to wave and shout “Happy Birthday!”  County and City Officials, Police and  Firemen with their vehicles and sirens, made the day complete.

Survivors include her niece, Anita and husband Robert Brown, nephews, David Casamento and Peter Casamento and his wife Jane, grand nephews, Nicholas & Casey, grand niece Crystal, and great grand nephews Cade and Corbin. Helen is predeceased by her brother, Peter Casamento.

Visitation will be held on Saturday February 12, 2022 from 9:30-11:30am at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday February 12, at 12 pm at the Church of the Infant Saviour. Burial will take place in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery.
