Firefighters responded to a barn fire late Thursday night on Plains Road in Walden, authorities said.

The Walden Fire Department arrived at 127 Plains Road around 10:30 p.m. and confirmed a working fire, prompting a request for additional manpower and a Tanker Task Force, officials said.

Mutual aid was provided by Coldenham, Wallkill, Orange Lake, and the Air National Guard, as well as tankers from Plattekill and Cronomer Valley. Firefighters used hand lines and an aerial ladder to knock down the flames, while tankers shuttled water from a portable tank set up along Plains Road.

One burn victim was transported by Town of Montgomery EMS to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. The Town of Montgomery Police Department and Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-12 also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
