Fire in a two-story residence at 301 Tower Avenue in Maybrook on Monday caused heavy damage to the structure. As firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy fire was shown on the second floor. The three-alarm blaze brought out several Orange County fire departments: Maybrook, Montgomery, Campbell Hall, Washingtonville, Coldenham, Goshen and Salisbury Mills all responded to the scene, while Good Will and Bullville were placed on standby. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in a half hour. Also on the scene were Maybrook Village Police, State Police, Montgomery EMS, the Orange County fire coordinator and deputies, as well as a county fire investigator. There were no reports of injuries. Red Cross volunteers met with families at the scene to offer assistance. They were also offered use of the Maybrook Senior Center as a meeting place.
