Edward ¨Ed” L. Jenkins, of Walden, NY passed away in Palm Coast, FL on February 7, 2022. He was 71.

He was born to Arthur Jenkins and Lena Bell-Jenkins on May 27, 1950 in Newburgh, NY. He was a lineman for 28 years at Walden Telephone where he retired from.

He was a member of the Colonel Bradley Hose, where he was a member for 50 years. He will  be missed by his family and friends.

Ed is survived by wife, Carolyn Smith-Jenkins at home, his sister Gladys Carrier and husband  Dave of Fort Mill S.C.; sister Elizabeth Van Dam and husband Paul of WaldenY; daughter Nanette  Jenkins of Cape Coral, Fl.; his son, Robert E. Jenkins of Pine Bush NY; grandchildren Scott, Todd, Mikayla  and Ryan; and great grandchildren Liam and Odin and several nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased  by his wife of 47 years Thelma M. Jenkins, his mother and father and his brother Robert “Bobby”  Jenkins.

A large part of his life was his dedication to the Lord and his family. He enjoyed church, singing  in the choir, helping people who were in need either mentally or physically.  Meeting friends and family  for breakfast, lunch or dinner was a regular part his week to continue one of his favorite passions, which   was to have conversations and laugh and joke around.  He was also a very talented man who enjoyed  gardening, baking, mechanical work, carpentry, being a wise guy and working outside.

Ed’s love for his family was endless.  He was incredibly proud to watch his children become good  parents and watch his grandchildren do the same, this was a goal for him and his wife Thelma.  He was very special at being able to give someone a smile, or bring the best into some else’s day that might not  be going well.  He was admired by many people as someone to literally and figuratively look up to.  He  enjoyed teaching people anything, it made him feel happy to pass on information or knowledge.  He had  great sarcastic sense of humor, which is a genetic trait in the Jenkins’ family.  Making someone else  laugh was a daily gift he liked to give.

Cremation took place in Florida, a private burial will take place at Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden with the family on March 5th, 2022, at 11 a.m.  A memorial service will be held at Goodwill Church in  Montgomery on March 5th from 2-3 pm.  Directly thereafter, we invite all to the Walden Fire  Department for food and refreshments to celebrate Ed’s successful journey with everyone.
