The Town of Montgomery is currently in a quiet but deeply important election race.

The Town of Montgomery Democratic Committee supports Susan Cockburn for Town Supervisor and Jeff Samerson for Town Council. You can find them both on the independent Respect Montgomery line (Row E) and Jeff also on the Democratic line (Row A).

Only YOU THE VOTERS decide who gets to run this town -- not the people who have been in power for decades. If you haven’t gone out to vote lately because it feels like it doesn’t matter, or because you’ve been disappointed by an election in the past - that is a decision as well. Not voting in an election is making a decision to live with the status quo.

Our town is almost equally divided between registered Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters. There is no one predetermined or clear winner unless people stay home!

Your choice this year is for Susan (a former town supervisor who led with unprecedented success developing forward thinking and community minded programs such as TOMSIP and a commitment to transparency in governance – televising town meetings well before this was an expectation) and Jeff (an energetic candidate, former EMT and 9/11 First Responder who is running because he loves Montgomery), or three other candidates who have been in elected leadership positions for decades, allowing unchecked industrial growth and the associated downgrade of our quality of life due to traffic and damage to our infrastructure during their current and prior tenures in Town and Village government.

If you care about our future as a Town, please vote. Early voting continues until November 5 and Election Day is November 7. Times and voting locations are available on the Orange County BOE website.
