Congratulations to Town Supervisor elect Steve Brescia. Steve will be replacing current Supervisor Ron Feller on January 1. In my opinion, Ron Feller did a marvelous job in one year as Interim Supervisor. I hope Steve can continue Ron’s excellence.

But what happens to the Village of Montgomery? Potentially there may be two trustee appointments and the mayor’s appointment. The mayor and board should make these appointments by December 31. This is also the date that the Mayor MUST resign.

There is plenty of talk that the mayor does NOT intend to resign on December 31. Word on the streets is that he intends to stay until January 4 or 20. In doing so the mayor believes he can avoid a “SPECIAL ELECTION” on March 19. This could allow his appointments to stay in office until the next election cycle. I have called the NYS Board of Elections four times, and they claim a “SPECIAL ELECTION” must occur.

On October 17 VOM board meeting I asked the mayor and board to give notice of their exit plan on November 21 VOM board meeting. We shall see.

I am asking Mayor Brescia and the Board to end this year in honor. Do not circumvent due process and have a “SPECIAL ELECTION” on March 19 and let the residents of our VOM determine who should fill the Mayor’s seat and two Trustees.

Let’s NOT return to the Boss Tweed era that disgraced NYC. Do NOT bring that garbage to our HOMETOWN.
