Bernadette E. Peck of Walden   passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was 89.

The daughter of John & Elsie Peck, she was born February 4, 1934 in Englewood, NJ.

Aunt Berna was fun loving and generous, she gave us special experiences that will never be forgotten, like Chip & Dip and Coke as a snack whenever we visited.  She worked in NYC and took us in with her to do mailings at the company (I broke the Telex machine oops didn’t mean to). She loved to cook and taught us how, and made sure dinners were in the formal dining room with Grandma and Grandpa and Dad present.
She loved to bake as well and taught me how to do both. She loved flowers and gardening-her father and brothers ran Meadowbrook Nurseries. She loved roses and she had all kinds of flowers and plants in her own yard. Her neighbor Manny said she once cut the cable wire as she was trimming hedges. (He was her guardian angel who helped her with everything-Thank you Manny).
She also had such an unwavering artistic side she loved all mediums, pastels (gave me my first set), oil, sculpture, she even made her own dolls. I guess it runs in the family as many family members loved flowers and are artistic. Aunt Berna was an animal lover from Bonnie the Westie that I remember, to Hector the cat, she always had one or two pets who kept her company and busy; I am sure they came first in her mind. Aunt Bernadette was admired for her strength and independence, which she kept till the day she passed.

Thank you Berna for all that you shared with us, taught us and guidance and love over your 89 years, you will be missed.

Survivors include her nieces Jonna Gaston, Stacy K Peck Moody, Kathie Freeman, Laura Freeman, Mary Ericson Boulder, Ann Marie McNeill, Patricia Todd, Claudia (Dede) Bernadette Magee, Stephanie Hammond and nephews James Freeman, Richard Mills Jr

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers John Peck, Thomas Peck, sisters Loretta P. Freeman, Regina Peck Mills, and nephew Chris Mills.

A funeral service was held Friday, December 29 at Millspaugh Funeral Home, Walden. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
