Reflecting on the holidays I am reminded of how nice it was to hear from friends across our nation and visits from relatives and friends we don’t see on a daily basis. One of the special visits I had was from U. S. Air Force Airman Grace A. Faso, a 2019 graduate of Valley Central High School, a graduate of basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas who was home on leave until January 2, 2020. Her home base will be Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Thank you for your service Gracie. We are all very proud of you.

Great turn out for Walden’s 10th Annual Leadership event last Thursday. Standing room only! Congratulations to Taylor Esposito, Jim Grismer, Dave Penney and Anthony Colella and his team from the Union House Inn - all very outstanding honorees. Much can be accomplished when we work together.

Belated birthday greetings to Mason Bliss who celebrated his 6th birthday on January 14 and to his sister Michaela Bliss who will celebrate her 4th birthday on January 19. Dad Mike and Mom Tara are ready for a big celebration. Hope it is the best ever!
Walden Rotary Club members send Happy Birthday wishes to Matt Flanagan on January 21. Enjoy your special day Matt.

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden will be waiting for you to visit their indoor yard sale on tomorrow, January 16. The Walden Woman’s Club will hold their January 20 meeting at 1 p.m., in the 3rd Floor Bradley Assembly Room of the Walden Municipal Building. Their WWC Youth Community Service Award Ceremony honoring youth volunteers will take place. This is especially significant as it is Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service. You are all invited to attend. This year the Walden Woman’s Club is celebrating 110 years of service to our community.

Bill Kirnan sends word that American Legion Post 158 will hold their annual Winter BBQ at the Walden VFW on Sunday January 26, 12 noon until 3 p.m. This event is free to all veterans and active duty military with a cost of $5 to all others.

Audrey Hepburn once said “As you grow older, you will discover you have two hands. One is for helping yourself and the other for helping others.” With that in mind do you know about the Town of Montgomery Seniors Independence Project (TOMSIP), a no fee program for adults 60 years of age and above designed to help seniors remain in their own home by assisting with transportation services, grocery shopping, home visits, clerical assistance and more. Currently volunteers are needed to assist our Senior “Neighbors” If you can assist in any way, please contact Eileen Steed, TOMSIP Coordinator at 457-4138. It is truly a rewarding experience.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:
