Our beloved father and Opa, Alfons Johann Ritz unexpectedly but peacefully entered into final rest on January 29, 2022.
Alfons, formerly of Rockland County, lived in Westtown NY for many years. He was born in Munich, Germany on August 19,1936 and as a 19-year-old he learned his trade as a machinist and moved to the United States.
Shortly thereafter, he met and married his wife Ruth in 1961 and were married for 56 years prior to her passing in 2017. Alfons was loved by everyone; family, friends and neighbors. He a was a kind hearted and wonderful husband, father and Opa who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was very proud of his entire family.
He is survived by his son Alfons Jr. and wife Lelys of Middletown, and his daughter, Diana and husband Larry Zaleski of Goshen. Alfons has three wonderful granddaughters, Kristina and her husband Andre, Danielle and her husband Jake, and Hannah. He also has two great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Leland. Alfons is further survived by his sister, Hildegard and her family who currently reside in Germany today.
Funeral services will be planned for Spring 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. Pine Bush.
