Cornwall Public Library presents events and programs for the week of June 11 to June 17.

Monday, June 12 kicks off with the Creative Writers Group at 11:30 a.m. This adult group warmly welcomes new members who have a passion for writing. Participants can register for this event through the library’s online calendar. For those who prefer a virtual option, a call to 845-534-8282 will make it available.

Later in the day, at 6 p.m., children in grades K-12 can participate in “Dog Tales.” This heartwarming program allows kids to read independently to Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause furry friends. Participants must register via the library’s online calendar to secure a 15-minute time slot of their choice. Registration opens one week prior to the program.

Also on Monday, at 6:30 p.m., the Teen Book Group will gather to discuss the book “As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow” by Zoulfa Katouh. This book club is open to students in grades 9-12. Participants can register in person at the library and pick up a copy of the book. eBooks and eAudiobooks are also available through the Libby app.

On Tuesday, June 13, the library invites individuals with tech questions to Teen Tech Tutoring from 4 p.m.onwards. Knowledgeable teen volunteers will be on hand to assist with various tech-related queries. No appointments are necessary, as assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wednesday, June 14 offers an opportunity to learn about nutrition with the “Just Say Yes to Fruits & Vegetables: Fruits & Veggies 101” workshop. Led by Sarah Malone, a JSY Nutrition Educator from the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, this free workshop and demonstration will provide valuable insights and tips on how to make the most of SNAP or EBT benefits. Attendees can register for this workshop on the library’s online calendar.

On Thursday, June 15, mystery enthusiasts can join the Mystery Book Group at 2 p.m. to discuss “Force of Nature” by Jane Harper. While it is a drop-in program, a virtual option can be made available upon request. Physical copies of the book are available to borrow at the library, and eBooks and eAudiobooks can be accessed through the Libby app.

Lastly, on Saturday, June 17, all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate in Chess Time at 11 a.m. Whether you’re looking for a friendly match or eager to challenge a new opponent, this drop-in event provides a perfect opportunity to test your chess skills. An instructor will be available to answer questions, and no registration is required.
