Structure fire at 210 Broadway

On June 6 at 9:02 a.m., the City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 210 Broadway and found smoke emitting from second floor windows. A second alarm was sounded at 9:06 a.m. and a third alarm was sounded at 9:36 a.m. to recall all City of Newburgh Fire Department staff and additional resources.

The fire was brought under control by 10:30 a.m., and crews remained on scene until nearly 2p to fully extinguish the fire. Mutual aid was received from Cronomer Valley, Castle Point, Stewart ANG, Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Goodwill, Beacon, New Windsor and Coldenham Fire Departments.

The Red Cross responded to assist in relocating 15 displaced residents. Four firefighters suffered minor injuries. The cause of the fire remains undetermined but is believed to be accidental in nature.
