Skoufis to seek third term

State Senator James Skoufis (D-Cornwall) formally launched his reelection campaign this week, having hand-delivered petitions to the State Board of Elections on Monday. Nearly 4,000 signatures - four times the required amount - were collected to earn him a space on the Democratic Party ballot line. Skoufis’ supporters also collected more than double the required number of signatures to appear on the Working Families Party ballot line. In his first two terms in the State Senate, Skoufis successfully fought to make the property tax cap permanent, ensure equal pay for women in the workplace, strip the power of pharmaceutical ‘middle men’ in order to drive down prescription costs, and expose misuse of taxpayer dollars within New York’s failed system of ‘economic development.’

“In my first two terms, we’ve been able to accomplish so much together on behalf of local communities,” said Skoufis. “As the state faces both challenges and opportunities, I would be humbled if given the opportunity to continue fighting for the Hudson Valley and all of our constituents for another two years.”
