Congratulations to Carl Aiello for 35 years of outstanding perseverance and dedication in journalism as Editor and Publisher of the Mid Hudson Times. It is an honor to be a very small part of his loyal newspaper family and sharing his joy. The journey has been priceless!

To say the least, it was certainly a celebration in the true spirit of joy and delight, as the long-awaited Newburgh Free Library Town Branch, officially returned to grace our community.

It’s a great time for our youth to be thinking of summertime vacation and taking advantage of every genre of books filling shelves and bookcases, that will utterly captivate them as they get lost in the power of words. Books refresh and challenge us, as they open doors into a new topic or see it through the eyes of a new author. Also, there are a myriad of online perks that come with your library card, as well as lots of free activities that entertain us.

Libraries continue to connect us while helping us get lost in the most magnificent manner, and are the beating hearts of our communities. Let’s pause and appreciate their generosity and take advantage of their gift.

Newburgh Area Retired Teachers’ Association (NARTA) enjoyed their Welcome to Spring Luncheon at The Lakeview House Restaurant, grateful for the spring warmth and the colorful profusion of blossoms and blooms welcoming them, to come in and meet dear colleagues.

NARTA has adopted the “Sock it to ‘em,” program to collect socks to be donated to various homeless shelters in our community. Since socks are the most requested and least donated item in these facilities, NARTA members were encouraged to bring sock donations to their luncheon, and it was also a wonderful celebration of Marilyn Maisonet’s 90th birthday on April 19.

May you always have an angel at your side.
