New Dollar General eyed for Route 52

Posted

The Town of Newburgh Planning Board voted Thursday, March 7 to circulate their intent for lead agency for the proposed project Dollar General located at 242 South Plank Road. The proposed 10,904 square foot storefront would be adjacent to Route 52 with the Storage Shop to the rear of the site.

Engineer Larry Marshall of Mercurio-Norton-Tarolli-Marshall, Engineering & Land Surveying appeared before the board Thursday night. Marshall made the board aware of several variances received back in February for parking. A sidewalk is to be included along the frontage of one of two lots that are shown on the site plan. With only one lot used for the project, application and fees for the subdivision will still be submitted, said Marshall.

MHE Engineering commented in its memo that a floodplain development permit would be required for the project, they note the proposed sidewalk and a stormwater management/stormwater pollution prevention plan would be required. MHE noted the subdivision item in their memo.

The town is looking for this Dollar General to not have outdoor storage as there is current outdoor storage at a Dollar General on Route 9W. Water and sewer utility connections and areas of curbing will need to be depicted on the plans. Other MHE comments will need to be addressed in the next submission.
