Hotel tax legislation renewed

Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-Newburgh) announced that he had passed legislation enabling the Town of Newburgh to continue collecting a hotel-motel tax of up to 5%. The legislation also includes Airbnbs and bed and breakfasts.

Jacobson said, “Airbnbs are popping up across the Hudson Valley. This bill enables the Town of Newburgh to continue collecting a local tax of up to 5% to help offset the costs of supporting these businesses.”

The bill now awaits passage in the Senate, where it is sponsored by Sen. Rob Rolison (R-Poughkeepsie).
