Flag Day honored at Newburgh Elks Lodge

Newburgh Elks Lodge # 247 held their traditional Flag Day celebration last Friday at Washington’s Headquarters.
The Ceremony is required to be performed by every Elks lodge in the country. It traces the origin of our flag through the many different versions over the years, to the 50 star flag we have today. They also perform our Flag retirement ceremony with the assistance of Washington’s Headquarters, and dispose of worn out flags with dignity.

This year’s ceremony featured ER-NY-422 Civil Air Patrol Honor Guard, Girl Scout Brownie Troop 303 and Boy Scout Troop 27, and the Officers of Newburgh Elks Lodge, and Cadet Lt. Colonel Leanora K.Ware, of the Civil Air Patrol singing the National Anthem. Guest speaker was LT Col Brian Silver, 105th Base Defense Squadron at Stewart ANG.
