Dorothy “Ginny” Virginia Gross, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was 99.

Daughter of the late David M. and Olive (Klyne) Patton, she was born February 7, 1924 in Newburgh, NY.

A lifelong resident, Ginny was a retired Registered Nurse with Dr. Charles Bivona, MD, Newburgh. She grew up on the Patton family farm, and was a 1945 graduate of the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. In earlier years she worked for both St. Luke’s Hospital and The Cornwall Hospital. She was a Charter member of the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corp., and was instrumental in their daily operations for many years. She was also a member of the Gardnertown United Methodist Church, served as Secretary for the Gardnertown Cemetery Association and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Town of Newburgh Post #1420 American Legion.

Survivors include four sons, George (Cheryl) Gross of PA, Gary (Judy) Gross of the Town of Newburgh, James (Marie) Gross of Plattekill, and Charles “Chip” Gross of the Town of Newburgh; one daughter, Nancy Griffin of Middletown; eight grandchildren, Beth, Pam, Kayla, Stephanie, Katie, RJ, Danielle and Alex; five great grandchildren, Sydney, Jake, Charlie, Fiona and Eisley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Charles G. Gross in 1995, four brothers, David L., Norman, Howard and Donald Patton, two sisters, Genevieve R. Barclay and Ilene Siegman, and son in law Ron Griffin.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardnertown Cemetery, Newburgh, NY.
