Cynthia M. Chesser, of Wallkill, entered into rest on Sunday, June 18, 2023. She was 69.

Daughter of the late Theodore and Justine (Heroy) Kobelt, Cindy was born April 12, 1954 in Newburgh, NY. In high school she enjoyed playing the baritone and was a drum majorette. Her specialty was the fire baton. She married Charles “Bill” Chesser, her high school sweetheart, in 1975. They built a house in Wallkill where Cindy joyfully raised her five children and took pride in being an expert homemaker. 

Cindy was devoted to serving others as a nurse, mother, and grandmother. Cindy was a retired RN with Orange Regional Hospital in Middletown. In earlier years she worked at Arden Hill Hospital. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church. Family and her grandchildren were paramount in her life. She enjoyed gardening, boating on the Hudson, and traveling. She baked the most creative, personalized cakes for the birthdays of her loved ones and was famous for her carrot cake and apple pie.

Survivors include her husband Bill; children Bill (Alexia), Barry, Bridget (Brian), Sabrina (Chris), Peter (Ashley); grandchildren Luke, Evangeline, Brandon, Connor, Silvia, and Marlo; sisters Patricia and Jacqueline; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Theodore Kobelt, Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon, Thursday, June 22, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 2212 Route 44-55, Gardiner. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy’s memory can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice (hvhospice.org) and the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (cholangiocarcinoma.org).
