City seeks ARC members

The City of Newburgh is seeking volunteers to serve on the Architectural Review Commission (ARC) to fill either member or alternate member positions. Individuals interested in volunteering must apply by July 21, 2023.

The ARC is a certified agent of New York State’s Historic Preservation Office and is charged with protecting and promoting the enhancement of Newburgh’s unique architectural wealth by ensuring all applications for exterior modifications within the East End Historic District or the Colonial Terraces Design District comply with established guidelines.

The ARC meets in-person on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Activity Center, 401 Washington Street. Appointment to the ARC is by the City Manager. Appointed individuals will fill the remaining portion of any unexpired term or a full term of two years from and after the expiration of the terms of their predecessors in office.

City of Newburgh residency is a requirement to join. Interested individuals may submit an application online at cityofnewburgh.seamlessdocs.com/f/BoardApplication.
Paper copies of the application are available in the office of the City Clerk at 83 Broadway. Applicants may submit a letter of intent in lieu of an application. The letter of intent must contain answers to the questions found in the application available online or in the office of the City Clerk.
