Randy Wilbur picked for Montgomery vacancy

The Village of Montgomery board underwent major changes over the last few months, from the resignations of Former Mayor Steve Brescia and Former Trustee Walter Linder to the elections of Mayor Mike Hembury and Trustee Kevin Conero. As of the village’s April 16 meeting, the board finally completed its ensemble with its newest member: Randy Wilbur, a former member of the zoning board of appeals.

Hembury asserted that while he could have appointed anyone he wished, he decided to accept resumes and find someone eager to fill the empty trustee position. He thought all three applicants were good choices but felt Wilbur provided the most experience to the board with his extensive history on the ZBA.

“I could’ve picked anybody I wanted to be the next trustee, but I threw it out there for resumes. We got three of them, it’s a pretty good catch,” Hembury said. “We picked the one that was most qualified. But the other two were very good guys and we’re going to have something for them in the future.”

“Randy Wilbur has been on the zoning board for 25-30 years, the guy just volunteers and everything,” he continued. “Randy’s going to teach us a lot of stuff, he’s going to hit the ground running.”
