Viking girls crush Pine Bush

The Valley Central softball team started hitting immediately and didn’t stop as they torched neighboring Pine Bush, 14-2, on Thursday afternoon at Valley Central High School.

Lauren Serrao led the Vikings with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Brianna Robinson added a single, two doubles and two RBIs. Autumn Strobach had three singles and Alyssa Bonilla fell a home run short of the cycle and drove in three runs.

Emilia Brundage hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
Winning pitcher Bella Mayo allowed eight hits and struck out seven.

Nate Burnley hit a two-run home run for Pine Bush in the fifth inning to account for their only two runs.

Kaeli Murtagh had two singles and a double and Isabella stiles had two base hits.

The Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Bonilla tripled home Serrao. Bonilla come home on a base hit by Megan Mann.
They added four more in the second inning on RBI singles by Strobach and Serrao. Bonilla finished off the scoring with a two-run triple.

The Vikings tacked on three runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-0 lead before Burnley’s two-run home run to center field put Pine Bush on the board. The Vikings responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by Robinson’s two run double.
The Vikings improved to 8-2 and Pine Bush fell to 5-8.
