VC’s Delmonico, Wallkill’s Jachimiak among All Stars

It was one of the best girls’ soccer seasons in recent memory with two local teams vying for the top spot in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association.

But when the dust settled, the Valley Central Vikings, led by Mac Delmonico, finished on top with the Pine Bush Bushmen led by Deirdre Meberg, right behind them.

Both Delmonico, who recently signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer and academic career at Division I Manhattan College next fall, and Meberg were named Section 9 all-section all-stars by the Section 9 Coaches Association.

Wallkill goalkeeper Madelyn Jachimiak also was named to the all-section team. She also was named a Class A all-star.

Delmonico was named a Class AA all-star along with a teammate, goalkeeper Grace Suchy, as the Vikings posted a 12-1-1 season before being eliminated by eventual champion Monroe-Woodbury in the Section 9 Class AA semifinals.

Meberg, Emma Boffalo and Morgan Tubbs were named Class AA all-stars from Pine Bush.

Erick Vargas of the Wallkill boys’ team was named to the all-section team and his teammates Carson Frisbie, Jr. and Renzo Scanu were named Class A all-stars. The Panthers ran the table during the regular season, but struggled in the postseason, losing the Mid-Hudson Athletic League semifinal game to Our Lady of Lourdes and were eliminated in the Section 9 Class A semifinals by the Cornwall Dragons.

Valley Central senior defender Shea Stadler was named a Class A all-star.
