Although County Waste has ended its leaf pickup in Maybrook, residents still have access to two alternatives. Residents can drop off their leaves at a dumpster at the Government Center on Schipp’s Lane. Leaves must be in biodegradable bags which are also available at the Government Center.
In addition, the village Public Works will make one sweep per week to pick up bagged leaves.
Upcoming events in Maybrook include the Orange County Farm Toy Show, sponsored by the Orange County Farmer’s Museum, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, November 5, at the Maybrook Senior Center on Schipp’s Lane. Admission is $3, children aged five and under are free. The show will feature vendors selling new and used toys, parts, memorabilia and gift items. Exhibitors will also present displays of toy collections, farm memorabilia and model displays.
The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held the evening of Sunday, November 27, at the Frederick Myers Veterans Memorial Park. Maybrook’s Boy Scout Troop 236 Band will perform holiday favorites. Santa will arrive on a fire truck.
The Maybrook Wind Ensemble annual Holiday Concert will be 7 p.m., Thursday, December 15, at the Senior Center. Admission is free (donations accepted).
