On January 11, at approximately 5 a.m., State Police from the Ellenville barracks responded to Vinegar Hill Road in the town of Shawangunk for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, troopers located the victim deceased outside of the residence.

The victim has been identified as Michael A, Hankins, age 29 of Woodridge, NY.

A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Walter D. Post Jr, age 26 from the town of Shawangunk. He was charged with Murder 2nd degree, a felony.

Post was remanded to Ulster County Jail.
