Sharilyn A. Evans of Walden, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, in Walden.  She was 53.

The daughter of James Evans Sr. and Marie Ciarlanto Shanahan, she was born February 2, 1968 in Newburgh.

Shari had a love for cooking and you could often find her whipping up a dish, or helping someone else preparing meals. Her love of animals is what drove her to become an advocate for shelters and wayward animals, and you could bet that she was always fostering a cat or two or helping at a local shelter. You may have even caught a glimpse of her feeding the strays from time to time (usually most of the time). She advocated for PETA, Big Cats of America, SPCA, Wildlife Warriors and local shelters with aspirations to become a vet tech.

She had the heart of a lion, wore her heart on her sleeve and loved her people immensely, most especially her son Jesse who was her world. Shari and Jesse together enjoyed building a beautiful collection of intricate and eclectic knives from around the world. He will always treasure them.

Survivors include her son Jesse J Shoop of Rock Tavern; father James Evans Sr. and life partner Evelyn Gilberto of Plattekill; mother Marie Shanahan and husband Rich Shanahan of Pennsylvania; sister Janette Evans-Burgess and fiance Jay Feinberg of Montgomery; sister Angela Evans of Danville, Pennsylvania; brother James Evans Jr.; nephews Justyn Evans and fiance Natasha Belless of Virginia; Christopher Evans of Amsterdam; niece   Taylor Burgess of Middletown; beloved cats Kali, Bootsie and Quilty and many beloved extended family members
