Pine Bush High School is proud to announce its upcoming production of “Rent,” School Edition. The performances will take place on Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Pine Bush High School Auditorium.

Based loosely on Puccini’s La Boheme, Rent School Edition follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

The talented cast includes Pine Bush High School students Elijah Cruz as Roger Davis, Miles Terranova as Mark Cohen, Erick Lockward as Tom Collins, Sydney Perez as Mimi Marquez, Kiera Masci as Maureen Johnson, Madison Conklin as Joanne Jefferson, Matthew Landolina as Benjamin “Benny” Coffin III, and Blake McCormick as Angel Dumott Schunar.

In addition to the main cast, the show features a talented group of soloists, including Emily Roman, Lydia Yelle, Nathan VonDeben, Saige Valentino, Rowan Stelmaszyk, Henry Brown, Lilliana Deckaj, Dylan Iglesias, Timothy Bernard, and Alicia Pagan. The Christmas Carolers will be played by Gianna Conklin, Jillian Masci, Tiara Bernard, and Touria Bernard. The ensemble includes Morgan Nelson, Felicity Cortes, Keara McCormick, Eryka Squash Castellanos, Madison Perry, Chrissy Zeblin, and Alayna Smith.
Tickets for Rent, School Edition are $10 and will be available at the door. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Pine Bush High School’s talented students bring this iconic musical to life.
