Congratulations to the Walden Fire Department Explorer’s Group for winning the 1st Place Trophy for best appearing Junior or Explorer Unit in the Hudson Valley Firemen’s Association parade on June 18. Also be advised that meetings for anyone over the age of 16 who would like to become a volunteer firefighter and/or member of the fire police, Walden Fire Department are on break for the Summer and will resume in September. Congratulations to Marisa Kraus, Walden’s Village Clerk, on being awarded the General Code’s Municipal Clerks Honor Roll in 2022. This is the third year in a row for Marisa to receive this award. Marisa began her career in Walden as a part time Administrative Aide in 2013, and took on the role of Deputy Treasurer in 2014. She became Deputy Treasurer/Clerk in 2016 and promoted to Village Clerk in 2018. Well done Marisa!

Be reminded - The free Summer Concert series continues to be held at Wooster Grove Memorial Park. 89 East Main Street. On Wednesday, July 6, 6:30 p.m. the Hillbilly Parade will. perform.

Also, looking ahead, the Mike Antonelli Band will perform on Wednesday, July 13.

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden will hold their next indoor yard sale on Saturday, July 2, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. All purchases benefit the care of the animals at the shelter. Catholic Conversations will meet on Thursday, June 30, 7 p.m. in Father Sullivan Hall, downstairs at M. P. B. Church. The topic chosen for June is: Reading the Bible as prayer and study. Most Precious Blood Knights of Columbus will host their 11th Annual Walden Classic Car Show on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Walden’s Village Square Rain date July 16. The event is held to raise funds to support local charitable giving as well as increase pedestrian foot traffic and commerce in the community. 100 classic and custom cars from the 1920’s to the present are targeted for registration. Car owners will receive a complimentary tee shirt with sponsor’s names printed on the back.This will be an admissions free event for the community and will feature food, raffles and DJ entertainment. The Walden Community Council will meet on Wednesday, July 13 at Wooster Grove Memorial Park. The Harvest Committee will meet with Mike Bliss at 6:30 p.m.

Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:

Registration is in progress for “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Programs! Sessions will begin the first week of July. The younger audience will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Schedules available at the Children’s desk with registration packets. Special events will include a program on Butterflies and a Family Felting Program.

Teens will meet every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. Teen activities will include a painting party, crafts, and guest speaker Annie Holmes who will talk about oceans and her experience working with aquatic wildlife.

The adults will meet on Thursday, 6 p.m. for craft activities and a special program of “Stories from the Sea” with Eileen Stelljes! Reading challenges and trivia contests will be available with prizes to be awarded at the end of July. Don’t be shy - sign up today!

The Library will be closed on Monday, July 4, honoring Independence Day.

The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, July 6, 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Sadie, our favorite Reading Therapy Dog, will visit the library on Monday, July 11.
