Every year, on the evening of August 6, millions celebrate crime prevention and community-police partnerships during National Night Out, a campaign created in 1984 by Matt Peskin, founder of the National Association of Town Watch. Regardless of where you live, your police department will likely host an NNO event within your area.
The Crawford PD and Police Benevolent Association will host the town’s NNO in Crawford Park at 19 Red Mills Road from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Officers and PBA members will offer residents food, music performances, K-9 demonstrations, laser tag, and many other activities. The first 1,000 attendees will also receive free t-shirts.
The Town of Montgomery will host an NNO at Valley Central High School on 1175 Route 17K from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents can meet and chat with their police officers while enjoying free food, a fireworks display, a helicopter landing, and a Touch-A-Truck event.
The Shawangunk PBA and Plattekill PD will host Shawangunk’s NNO in Garrison Park at the corner of Central and Park Avenue from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents from both towns can engage with their officers and K-9s, browse food vendors, watch fireworks, and marvel at firetrucks.
The Walden Police Department will host the village’s NNO in Bradley Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents can enjoy free food and beverages, watch fireworks, enter giveaways, jump in bouncy castles, and interact with several local organizations.
The Wallkill Police Department will host the town’s NNO in Little League Park at 99 Little League Way from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Officers will provide food and ice cream, raffles and giveaways, face paintings, music, and games. The first 1,500 attendees will also receive free t-shirts.
