The Montgomery Senior Center is happy to announce a new monthly event in January: Monthly Enrichment Day. Once a month a new topic or services will be offered. The first one will be held on Wednesday, January 19 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss Income Tax Preparation. Any questions call Trish Murphy at the Senior Center 457-9367. The Walk 15 program will return to the schedule in February.  On Wednesday, February 9 there will be a Health & Wellness Program at 11:45 a.m. You will all love this: the Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate. Please call to register if you plan on attending.  I wonder if they will be giving out samples!

The Knights of Columbus 2270 at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Montgomery are holding a fundraising raffle. It is for a 65” Samsung TV. Wow imaging watching the Super Bowl on that ! The raffle will be drawn on January 24 and the tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. They sell the tickets after masses or contact Bob at 692-2393. See their website at knights2270@hvc.rr.com.

The Valley Central School District announces its anticipated continued participation with the grant funded New York State half-day and full-day Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program for the 2022-2023 school year.

Services for the anticipated half-day and full-day UPK program will be provided through our locally approved UPK Providers rather than through a district run program. Applications for the 2022-2023 UPK program will be available January 20, 2022. For more information or to request an application, please visit our website at https://www.vcsd.k12.ny.us/about-us/universal-pre-kindergarten/   or call the UPK Office at (845) 457-2400 extension 18134 to have an application mailed to you. Eligible children include those who will be four years old on or before December 1, 2022 and who reside in the Valley Central School District. Completed, eligible applications will guarantee your child an opportunity to be included in the lottery selection process for the program. Applications are due no later than March 18, 2022.

Don’t forget our own Montgomery Free Library. Now that the Christmas movies have ended I will be going back to reading. I prefer non-fiction so I am considering The Legend of Big Boy, a true story of a friendship between a man and a dog.  Also, the new book The Boys, by Ron Howard and his brother Clint Howard, a memoir of  growing up in Hollywood.

Happy belated birthday wishes to Jim Ferguson of Montgomery who celebrated on January 4, hope is was great! Wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead.

Also happy birthday wishes to Stacia  (1-23) and Rachel (1-24) the Faso sisters. Hope you both have a nice birthday celebration.
