Joseph Raymond Seeley Jr., 92 of Wallkill,  entered into eternal rest on November 22, 2022.

He was born on August 5, 1930 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh to the late Elsie J. Brown-Seeley-Swan and Joseph R Seeley. His stepfather was the late Wesley Swan.

Joseph attended Newburgh schools, and after high school he joined the US Navy and was a Korean War veteran. During a short leave from the war, he married Dolores Marie McKeel on Christmas Eve 1951, and together they raised two sons and a daughter. When Dolores passed away, he married Margaret Evers on October 24, 1998.

Joseph retired as Newburgh Beacon Bridge Maintenance Foreman, and expressed many times it was the best job he had ever had. While married to Margaret he enjoyed traveling to Ireland and going on senior bus trips. He was a member of his community’s Widows and Widowers Club, enjoyed going out to breakfast, being social, and spending quality time with friends and family. After Margaret passed, he enjoyed the silver sneakers gym class and spending time with his best friend Julia. He was always very generous, and enjoyed passionate and enthusiastic conversations around the holiday dinner table, especially with his grandson, Dayton. Joseph was fortunate enough to participate in the Honor Flight with his dear friend Duane Mickle in April 2022.

Joseph had three children: his son Kevin J. Seeley (deceased) and his wife Patricia, grandsons Kevin W. Seeley and his wife Van, Patrick C. Seeley, and great grandson Harrison; his daughter Karen M. Seeley Palen and her husband Frank, granddaughter Shannon Hennig, her husband Russell, great granddaughters Sadie and Rosalie, grandson Dayton Palen and his fiancé Lauren; and his son Kent Seeley and his wife Tina, granddaughter Kaitlin Seeley, and grandsons Kyle and Kole Seeley. During his marriage to Margaret, he was also a devoted grandfather “Go Go” to Billy and Kristina Dean.

Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Newburgh, with burial following in St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Joseph’s name to Hudson Valley Honor Flight, PO Box 375, Walden NY 12586.
