The son of the late Isaac and Anna Rowe Babcock, he was born September 2, 1933 in Walden, , a town he loved and would return to frequently with his family. He was a Korean War veteran and enjoyed a lifelong love of cars as a diesel mechanic.

But his greatest love was always his family.

He is survived by his wife Anne, children Gerald and Irene, grandchildren Gregory and Johnathan, great-granddaughter Jaylin, and countless friends and loved ones who will always cherish his wisdom, effortless ability to make us laugh, and selflessness.
