In recognition of National Stroke Awareness Month, Garnet Health will host a free, virtual forum, “Act Fast: A Self-Care Forum on Stroke Prevention Signs and Symptoms” on Wednesday, May 18, 7 - 8 p.m.
Garnet Health neuroscience experts will lead a one-hour discussion, offering tips to maintain good brain health and protection from stroke.
A stroke occurs when the flow of blood in the brain is disrupted by a clot (ischemic stroke) or when a blood vessel bursts, causing excessive blood accumulation around the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). While not all strokes can be prevented, a great deal can be done to help a stroke victim experience better outcomes—that is, survival and, possibly, less severe physical and mental impact. Doing so comes down to three words: Every second counts.
