Former VC principal gets new job in Eldred

Posted

One year after taking a leave of absence that ended with his resignation, former Valley Central Co-Principal Michael Conklin has a new job.

Conklin has been appointed Junior Senior High School Principal in the Eldred School District, effective July 1.

Conklin was Assistant Principal of Valley Central High School when, in February of 2021, the district announced the transition to co-principal model, and he became a co-principal in the high school. He was placed on leave of absence only a few months later.

In a letter obtained by the Wallkill Valley Times that was date stamped by the Valley Central School District’s Human Resources Department on March 3, 2022, Conklin writes, “I am submitting my resignation from my position as Co-Principal of the Valley Central High School, as well as the Assistant Principal of the Valley Central High School, from which I had taken a leave of absence that was approved by the Board of Education on June 14, 2021. The effective date of both resignations is March 20, 2022. I am confident that the faculty, staff and administration will continue to serve the educational needs of the community.”

No reason was given for his resignation.
