EV charging stations eyed for Montgomery

Posted

The Village of Montgomery could soon welcome its first Electric Vehicle charging stations.

Lynn Stewart representing for Livingston Energy, LLC, appeared before the village board last week to discuss a plan to locate six charging stations at 500 Patchett Way in Loosestrife Fields. She said Tower Management, which owns Loostrife Fields would provide the stations for its residents. The 7.6 KW stations would be available to charge vehicles overnight.

Village officials, however, say there are no regulations in the books for charging stations.

“There is a lack of guidance from the state,” said Mayor Steve Brescia.

Trustee Mike Hembury said he checked with the fire department.

“We’re all worried about this new thing,” he said.

According to its website, Schenectady-based Livingston Energy Corp. provides turnkey services and equipment across North America for the installation and management of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and the required infrastructure.

Village officials said they would review the village code and discuss the matter with the building inspector.
