The Town of Newburgh Planning Board approved a negative declaration and set a public hearing for January 5 for the project known as “Unity Place Warehouse” on Thursday, November 17.

The proposed project is a 40 foot high, 154,700 square foot warehouse located at the corner of Unity Place and Old Little Britain Road with 72 loading docks located at the back of the building, 36 trailer parking spaces and 87 passenger spaces.

The New York State Department of Transportation has requested truck turning templates at the Route 17K Unity Place and Route 300 intersection along with detection upgrades such as cameras at those intersections.

Previous reports stated that the proposed project was originally 162, 800 square feet but now has been reduced. The proposed site reduction allows for additional green spaces and storm water management for the property. Current renderings of the project do not expose the trailers and loading docks and the color scheme will mimic the neighboring Jehovah’s Witness center located along Unity Place.
