The Wallkill varsity boys lacrosse team came up just short in a tight battle against New Paltz on April 3, falling 9-8 in a non-league matchup.

Senior Nick Vidal powered the Panthers’ offense with four goals, while Sylts Hauser added two. Brent DeCoeur and Justin Devens each netted one, with Devens also contributing an assist. Sean Petrick recorded two assists, and Stephan Lischinsky added one.

Despite a strong second-half push, Wallkill couldn’t overcome the Huguenots’ early lead.
Earlier in the week, Wallkill suffered a 15-7 loss to Cornwall Central on April 1.

James Rhinehart led the Panthers with a hat trick, while Petrick added two goals. Devens and Ian Tozzi each chipped in with a goal apiece.

The Panthers continue their season looking to build momentum as they approach league play.
