With COVID cases on the rise again, the Village of Walden has decared a State of Emergency, effectively limiting access to muncipal offices.

The State of Emergency, declared by Village Manager John Revella, went into effect on Wednesday, Jan 5, and will remain in effect for 30 days or until rescinded by a subsequent order.

At Tuesday night's village board meeting, Revella made reference to staffing issues in a couple of village departments due to COVID.

"We’re getting to be a tempest right now," said Mayor John Ramos later in the meeting. "We have to be preventative. "

In accordance with the emergency orders:

  • Access to all village offices is by appoinment only, and must be arranged in advance by telephone or email..
  • All meetings of the village board, planning board, and zoning board of apeals will be held virtually, "as technology permits."
  • All village employees are considered essential and will continue to report to work as per usual.
  • All fees, including water and sewer fees, must be made by mail and postmarked no later than the last due date. Payments should be made by bank or ersonal check. No cash should be mailed.
