Village of Montgomery residents can expect to see an increase in their water bills starting in June. Village officials say it’s long overdue.
The village board held a public hearing last week to outline the new rates, noting that the water department has run at a deficit in recent year. Rates for users within the village water district will see an increase from $3.85 per 1000 gallons to $4.45 per 1000 gallons for consumers of under 50,000 gallons. Consumers who use more than 50,000 gallons will see an increase from $4.45 to $5.15 per 1000 gallons
Outside users will see an increase from $9.62 to $11.15 per 1000 gallons.
There will also be an increase in connection fees.
‘These rates are still very modest, compared to Ulster County,” said Mayor Steve Brescia.
