The Cornwall Central boys basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive Tuesday night, securing a 50-45 victory over Valley Central in a Section 9 Class AA quarterfinal matchup.
The road win marked the third straight game in which the visiting team emerged victorious in the series between the two teams.
Cornwall held off a late push from the Vikings, whose season ended on a three-game skid, dropping their final record to 13-8. AJ Brown led Valley Central with 12 points, while Nasir Trotter added 10 and Noah Ruiz finished with six.
Cornwall’s postseason run came to an end two nights later with a loss to eventual Class AA champion Our Lady of Lourdes in the semifinals.
